Imagine this for a moment.
It is 23rd December 2025. You’re looking back on this year. How do you feel?
Tired? Burnt out? Like it all just blurred by in a string of meetings, decisions and obligations?
Or do you feel proud? Grounded? Present in your life and your leadership?
The way you finish the year is shaped by how you choose to lead from here on out. And no, that doesn’t mean cramming in more or stretching yourself thinner. It means pressing pause, taking a step back, and making intentional choices about what truly matters.
This is the exact conversation I’m having with my clients (and myself) right now. So, if you're ready to get off autopilot and reconnect with what really matters to you in work, life or both, these 6 prompts are your reset button.
Let’s dive in.
1. What’s the feeling you’re chasing?
Let’s stop focusing only on the goals or tasks you want to achieve and start with how you want to feel by the end of the year.
Maybe it’s pride - not for doing it all, but for doing what matters.
Maybe it’s calm - because you finally stopped trying to prove yourself and burning yourself out in the process.
Or, maybe it’s impact - because you showed up with courage and clarity, even when it felt scary.
When you start with the feeling, your decisions start to shift and your actions become more aligned.
2. What strengths can you dial up?
Success isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about remembering who you already are and choosing to lead from that place on purpose.
Take stock of what’s already working. What strengths have you leaned on when things got a bit tough this year? What talents keep rising to the surface when you’re at your best? What positive feedback have you consistently received over the years?
Dial those up. You don’t need a reinvention. You need a reclamation.
3. What’s got to go?
Let’s be real, most of us are carrying at least one obligation, commitment or habit that’s draining us.
If you were being unapologetically bold… what would you say no to?
The meeting that could be an email.
The people pleasing that leaves you feeling resentful.
The internal pressure to prove you’re ‘on top of it all’ even when you’re drowning.
Leadership is about clarity. And clarity often begins with a clean-out.
4. Rituals over resolutions
You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel successful. You need tiny, consistent anchors that bring you back to yourself.
Think five minutes of total silence in the car before you step into work.
A walk without your phone.
Coffee from your favourite cafe in the morning that you enjoy that first sweet sip of on your own.
Three deep breaths before your first meeting of the day.
These rituals may be small, but they be mighty. And they’re the difference between reacting and responding.
5. Relationships = ROI
Your growth doesn’t happen in isolation. The people around you matter, and it might be time to get more deliberate about who you’re investing in.
Who are two people you can nurture a deeper relationship with over the next 6 months? Perhaps the focus might be on mentorship, better collaboration with a peer, or expanding your circle beyond the usual suspects to help increase your visibility and brand at work?
Don’t wait for the networking event. Send the text. Book the coffee. Build the bridge.
6. Who’s keeping you honest?
Accountability is not about perfection. It’s about keeping you upright, even when you stumble.
Who’s in your corner? Who sees you clearly, and can lovingly call you in when you veer off course?
Don’t go it alone. Pick someone who can lift you up (and you to them in return), and make these second-half commitments together.
Final Word…
You don’t need a new title, a new job, or a whole new life to finish this year feeling proud.
You need to own your time, your energy, and your focus (not someone else's) with clarity, intention, and a little bit of courage.
